Unstoppable Momentum: Six Wins in Six at Oulton Park - 750 Motor Club Winter Sim Series, Round 2

After a dominant Round 1, where we claimed pole and secured three consecutive wins, we were eager to carry that momentum into Round 2. However, with the competition raising the bar and putting in some serious practice, we knew this round wouldn't be a walk in the park.

Qualifying
Qualifying was intense. Traffic made it challenging to set a clean lap, and once we found some space, it was hard to get back into a rhythm. We briefly held provisional pole, but in the final moments, we were edged out by just two-tenths of a second.

Race 1
A strong start saw us drag-racing into Turn 1 before making an outside challenge for P1. What followed were two laps of exhilarating side-by-side battles, trading positions at nearly every corner. On Lap 3, the leader ran wide at Cascades, opening the door for a drag race to Island Bend. We seized P1 and defended aggressively into Shell Oils, gradually building a gap lap by lap. By the checkered flag, we crossed the line 3 seconds ahead, claiming the win.

Race 2
Starting P2 again, we focused on another solid launch. With the pole sitter struggling with car issues, we took the lead before Turn 1 and never looked back. Managing the gap to P2 throughout, we brought it home with a comfortable 2.5-second margin for another victory.

Race 3
The final race of the evening promised more excitement. Another lightning-fast start put us right on the pole sitter’s tail into Turn 1. We made a bold move up the inside at Cascades to claim the lead, but the fight wasn’t over. The former leader had a stronger exit and retook the inside line into Island Bend. Running side-by-side through the corner with barely an inch to spare, we managed to stay ahead, defending hard into Shell Oils.

The battle intensified as we approached Knickerbrook, where a brake failure from P2 caused a hefty shunt. While holding on, we briefly lost the lead but executed a well-timed switchback at Druids to regain P1. The pressure didn’t stop as P3, P4, and P5 closed in, creating a three-wide showdown into Lodge Corner. Taking the inside line, we held our position and fended off relentless pressure for several laps. A late mistake from P2 gave us some breathing room, allowing us to settle into a rhythm and take the win.

With six wins from six races this season, it’s been an incredible start!
Massive credit to the other competitors for their pace, consistency, and commitment to clean but hard-fought racing. Thanks for keeping me honest out there—here’s to the next round!
